A Birthday Salute to a Wonderful Woman- Sylvia Streater

I want to salute long time native Sylvia Streater Happy 83rdBirthday. Mrs. Streater and her late Husband Lee Streater have contributed to the health and growth of the City Of Kemah for many Years. Aa a young child , Sylvia was a Student in the classroom of teacher LaVace Stewart.

LaVace Stewart Elementary is the name sake of our own school in Kemah, established in1950 as Kemah Elementary. The district moved former Army barracks to the site and converted them into classrooms. The district hired additional staff and named Stewart principal. A brick building was completed in 1950.

Sylvia, a long time owner with her husband Lee of Sylvia’s Cozy Corner is the Picture of Kemah. She has served as Mrs Claus, Grand Marshal of the Kemah parade, even dressed as a lighthouse to represent Kemah Hospitality at many events. Her tireless volunteer hours to the City of Kemah, Kemah Police Department, Kemah Lions Club, Kemah Citizen Police Academy, Kemah Kronies and many more local organizations is unmatched. Her passion as a member of the Kemah City Council is a record of looking after the good of Kemah. It is an example that current and future City Council can strive to emulate.
